Relief Operation in Marikina City and Rizal
Last November 11, 2020, at around 11 in the evening, Typhoon Vamco, known in the Philippine as Typhoon Ulysses, struck the Philippines. Vamco’s first landfall in the Philippines hit Quezon province. Heavy rains caused inundated rivers, severe flooding in Central Luzon, its nearby region, including Metro Manila, and the National Capital Region.
In a time of crisis, CJFI never fails to extend help to the victims of any calamities. Through its FOunding President and Major Benefactor, Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy, CJFI together with the other Non-Government Organizations (NGO) namely, Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI) and Sonshine Philippines Movement (SPM) conducted a two-day Relief Operation on November 16-17, 2020, for the Typhoon Ulysses victims.
The first day of the operation was at Brgy. Sto Niño Elementary School (Evacuation Center). Over 300 families of Brgy. Sto Niño and Brgy. Malanday has availed of the support given.
Aside from the relief packs, lunch meal, and COVID-19 Kit, CJFI also distributed toys for the children to aid them. Acquiesce to the City Government that it would be a big help for the kids to have an avenue of fun and to forget the trauma and mournful experience they had in these trying times and hardships caused by the said typhoon.
The City Government really thanked the help sent to them.
Present at the said activity were Brgy. Sto Niño was the Marikina Vice Mayor Marion Andres, Chairman Rizaldy Josef, Engr. Nerlisa Palomar (Camp Manager and LGU City Planner), Kagawad Kate De Guzman, and Adoracion A. Valderrama (School Head). Though not personally attended the operation, Mayor Marcelino Teodoro never missed expressing his gratitude to the volunteers since he was not present because he assisted some benefactors who also extended help to the victims.
On its second day in Kasiglahan Village, Brgy San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal, almost 500 families have received relief goods. They were divided into four batches. Each batch will receive three (3) rounds since they cannot carry all of the goods given at a time. In the first-round, they received a pail of goods. Next, they would pick the 12 liters of drinking water. Lastly, they have received a ready-to-eat meal.
Present at the event was Mr. Arnel De Verra (Executive Assistant of Mayor Tom Hernandez- who was not able to attend the operation for he is also assisting the help of other people). Also present are the Local Government Units (LGU) Representative Mr. Edgar Querido, Councilor Janet De Verra, and Councilor Marc Pastoral.
Mr. Arnel De Vera Executive Assistant for Social Services, Office of City Mayor “Kaya maraming-maraming salamat po kay Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy dahil nakarating po kayo sa aming lugar at marami po ang inyong nabahagi sa aming mga kababayan.”
