Teaching children the importance of their private body parts.
CJFI has launched an awareness campaign to shield children from child sexual exploitation.
One of the most important rights of children is the right to education. Children ought to learn and implant knowledge and awareness in their minds. It is their right to educate and to be able to defend themselves against child abuse.
CJFI, with the Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Sexual Abuse (CPTCSA), held online storytelling at the CJFI Quezon City. It was to build awareness against child sexual abuse, assault, and exploitation in line with the national awareness week. It takes place every second week of February and is also on the presidential proclamation, 731. The activity started around ten o’clock in the morning. Ms. Zenaida Rosales (Executive Director of CPTCSA) gave her opening remarks before the main activity began.
The storyteller for the day is Mr. Genaro R. Gojo Cruz, author of “Ako ay may Titi” One of his purposes is to educate children about proper care for genital parts of the body. He said that talking about the private parts is not rude or vulgar, which clarified the misconception. It is naturally there that is why everyone has to take care of it. He tackled how to keep it clean and sanitize. The kids were awkward from the start, but they began to loosen up in the process. They also discussed the danger of exploitation, abuse of the private component, which is disrespectful to moral standards. The activity went on for an hour before they bid their thank-yous and goodbyes.
The topic is new to the children, and they were shy to talk about it. They are thankful to the people who initiate the activity in a manner where they can understand. They learned the functions and how to clean their private parts. They are now open to learning about these things. Thanks to the people who enlightened them.
