A fire drill at the Children’s Joy Foundation Inc. (CJFI) Laguna.
Alertness is an example of a prominent characteristic that might save someone in dire times. It is the individuals who will encounter emergencies first hand and agencies can only alleviate further damage. It is a necessity to have an attribute to equip oneself.
On January 25, 2021, CJFI Laguna held a fire drill in sync with their theme for the month. It is about Alertness versus carelessness of the children and the staff. The kids woke up from an alarming sound. The sound lasts for almost one minute and thirty seconds. Ms. Nelia Manas ( Medical-In-Charge) instructed the house parents to execute a fire drill and operate the emergency alarm. It is to test the kids how they will react in case this alarm is for real. The kids were fully awake and active beyond expectation. They had a headcount after they obediently followed their houseparent toward the flag-raising area.
The kids were alert despite the uproar. They all noted the constant reminders and precautionary instructions of Ms. Nelia. The drill went smoothly. It finished successfully by accomplishing the fire practice with cooperation.
The beneficiaries were able to enhance their response mechanism before, during, and after a fire. They immediately gained the energy to reply to the emergency call. The staff was glad to see the kids cooperate with the given instructions. They were surprised by the active participation of the children according to how the CJFI trained them.
