When every meal is a challenge, when going to school is a struggle, when a good life seems too far out of his reach — how do you think a child born in poverty celebrates his birthday?
Having known poverty since he was a child, CJFI’s Founding President Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy dreamed of a world where every child is cared for, loved, and protected. His love for the children gave birth to the Children’s Joy Foundation, Inc., a social welfare and development agency which is composed of volunteers, staff, and people who also share in his vision.
Pastor Apollo knew that a child’s birthday is a special day for every child but millions of them even find the most basic needs a huge luxury. Thus, the National Children’s Day began in April 25, 2005 which is Pastor Apollo’s own birthday dedicated to the children and their families all over the Philippines.
Every year, the National Children’s Day has become bigger, grander, and more exciting to all generations — both young and old. Finally this year, the National Children’s Day is now the ACQ International Children’s Day where the joy and love is extended not only to children in the Philippines but to the rest of the world.
On this magnificent occasion, Disney-like characters and princesses like Elsa and Anna from the movie “Frozen”, the “Little Mermaid”, Belle from “Beauty and the Beast”, and even super heroes like Captain America and Iron Man parade through the grounds. Marvelous floats, fantasy-costumed dancers, and brilliant marching bands decorate the KJC Central Compound from sunrise til sundown. There are also unlimited rides, games, and food available for everyone. And of course, the celebration wouldn’t be complete without the giant cake for all kids and their families to enjoy.
Thousands of poor children around the globe, particularly in Los Angeles, New York, Hawaii, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Hongkong, Australia, and other countries celebrated simultaneously their adopted birthday together with Pastor Apollo and sent in their videos, photos, and also their greetings.
Pastor Apollo, in his speech that day said, “Many of them goes to bed without even food in their stomach, and this is a reality in the Philippines. So I said to the Lord, if you will bless me, I will dedicate a vault of this blessings for the welfare of these children.”
This year’s celebration is entitled, “All We Need is Love” with the hashtags #ACQICD2017 #birthdayACQICD and #ICDAllWeNeedisLove.
