In October 2019, a series of strong shallow earthquakes struck the province of Tulunan, North Cotabato, Municipalities of Magsaysay, and Matanao Province of Davao Del Sur that caused massive destruction in affected communities and its neighboring cities. The earthquakes caused displacement, loss of lives, and severe damage to properties and infrastructure.
Together with the Sonshine Philippines Movement (SPM) headed by Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy, the CJFI showed love and kindness to the people in the affected areas through a relief operation in Tulunan, North Cotabato last November 2, 2019, by helping the Brgy. Paraiso, Brgy. Magbok and Brgy. Daig, Tulunan, North Cotabato all on the same day.
On the other hand, last November 9, 2019, the team also proceeded in the Municipalities of Magsaysay at Brgy. Upper Bala, Matanao Province in Brgy. Kibao, and Padada of Davao Del Sur.
The relief operation is a response to the urgent needs of the communities affected by the earthquakes on October 31. CJFI and SPM combined its forces and resources to provide the needed relief assistance through the goodwill of Pastor Apollo.
Noodles, sacks of rice, canned goods, bottles, and gallons of drinking water, milo, coffee, milk, tents, medical assistance, and many more have been received for their daily basic needs.
As one of the basic needs, the CJFI together with the SPM provided potable waters in the Brgy. Upper Bala due to their extreme need for safe drinkable water with at least six (6) tanker trucks carrying 17,000 liters of water in each tank. Brgy. Kagawad Ruth Flores expressed her gratitude to the CJFI and SPM’s Founding President for the big help that has reached their community. “Salamat gyud kaayo sir ug kang Pastor Quiboloy. Dili gyud mi makalimot ninyo,” Mr. Ronquillo Samoneza Brgy. Capt. of Daig, Davao Del Sur, expressed.
Likewise, Kibao Brgy. Captain Bacamante added, “Salamat gyud kaayo sir. Dako kaayo ni nga tabang sa amo tungod kay tanan nakadawat gyud. Kamo lang nakahimo ani. Salamat kang Pastor sir.”
It has been part of CJFI’s noble cause to be in the frontlines of helping those in need. However, the team did not stop there. After merely six days, the team was back on the road for another relief operation for the earthquake victims of Magsaysay and Matanao Province.
