Education is a right that children must enjoy. Unfortunately, many kids in impoverished communities lack access to the basic educational tools that they need to aid their learning. This is why, the Children’s Joy Foundation, Inc. (CJFI) through its CBSP Balik-Eskwela Program conducted a distribution of school supplies to pre-school children aged three to six years old who are enrolled in Kalonbarak Day Care Center.

The activity was led by Marichel Eyog, CJFI Executive Director, and Jessielyn Bandalan, CJFI Deputy Director for Programs and Services. Joining the CJFI in this outreach program is the Community Extension Services office of its partner institution, the Jose Maria College (JMC).
Together, CJFI and JMC staff distributed bags filled with school supplies such as notebooks, papers, pens, books, etc. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only the parents were allowed to receive the supplies for their kids.

Afterward, Kalonbarak Daycare teacher, Loriana Basino expressed her gratitude to CJFI and JMC for their unwavering support to the kids of Kalonbarak. Basino also happily announced that the Daycare center has passed the accreditation of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Likewise, JMC’s community extension officer, Genesis Silatan also gave a short message promising that JMC will continue its partnership with CJFI to support the children in the community.

The transition from face-to-face to modular classes has taken a toll on most learners since they were forced to traverse unknown terrain. However, CJFI would like to send a message to the kids that they can keep on learning and reaching for their dreams because they are not alone. CJFI will always be there to help them and give them the support they need.
Simultaneously, CJFI last December 13, 2021, CJFI and JMC Community Extension Services shared blessings through Balik Eskwela for Ocampo Day Care Center, Proper 1 Day Care Center, and Proper 2 Day Care Center at Indangan, Davao City.

Despite the circumstances the world is undergoing, CJFI still tries to reach out to the needy and marginal children out there. CJFI and JMC volunteers gave school supplies to the total of 400 beneficiaries of the three barangays with three Day Care Centers. As the team gave the supplies, the in charge of the different Day Care Centers happily and gratefully received the school supplies.
